Stressed skin panel timber floor design

  • when: <2019-01>–<2019-03>
  • organization: Chalmers University of Technology
  • course: Timber engineering

This design was completed as part of the design project within the course Timber engineering at Chalmers University of Technology during my masters degree. The task was to design a specific type of timber floor system called a stressed skin panel. A stressed skin panel consists essentially of timber I-joists which are connected to each other through it's flanges (usually by nailing flanges to each other during installation of prefabricated panels). The design was done in accordance with Eurocode 5 and all calculation were included in the final deliverable. A dynamic analysis was also included by way of finite element model.
